JEE Main April 2020- Mathematics Syllabus:
The syllabus of JEE Main mathematics is similar to CBSE class 11 and Class 12, but there is a huge difference in the level and pattern of CBSE exam and JEE Main April 2020 exam. Your fundamental should be clear about the subject, so while study don’t mug up things but understand it. Mathematics is always with formulas and steps. Many students find mathematics as a very tough subject whereas for others it is a very interesting and scoring subject. The difference is in understanding the fundamentals of mathematics.
Importance of Mathematics in JEE Main April 2020 Exam :
For any entrance exam mathematics plays a vital role in scoring high. In JEE main also, among all three subjects mathematics is given top priority. Many candidates score the same percentile in JEE Main, but in case of deciding Merit for tie marks, the subjects are given in the following priority:-
Although all the topics are important and must be studied during preparation, however, there are some topics that are more important. Number of questions (the majority of questions) are expected from these topics. Followings are these topics:-
- Coordinate Geometry
It is the largest chapter of mathematics. It covers two main topics:-
- Limits and Continuity
- Application of Derivatives
- Indefinite Integral
- Definite Integral
It is another chapter which is huge and covers
- Straight Lines
This is the most fundamental chapter of mathematics. It needs speed and accuracy of basic calculations. Although there are topics of Differential Equations, Probability, Complex Numbers, Permutation and Combination, Quadratic Equations and Expressions, Matrices and Determinants, Progressions and Series, Binomial Theorem and Sets, Relations, and Functions, more emphasis should be given to topics of
- Matrices and Determinants
- Progressions and Series
Trigonometry is also equally important chapter. In many examinations, questions from trigonometry are covered including in JEE Main. Trigonometric ratios and Trigonometric functions are essential areas of trigonometry. All the trigonometric ratios are based on the sides and angles of a triangle. The questions in JEE Main will be asked from basics and their applications of trigonometry.
JEE Main April 2020 examination pattern has undergone a major change. Now there will be 25 questions in each subject instead of 30 questions. Out of these 25 questions, 5 questions will be number based answers and balance 20 questions will be of MCQ type. There is a difference in answering these questions. In MCQ type you have to choose one from the given four options, however in number based questions, you have to enter the answer in numerical form. This must match with the correct answer already stored in the computer. However, NTA has clarified that numbers in various forms like 5 can be entered as 5.0, 05, 005, 5.00 etc. These all ways of representation will be considered correct.
Speed and Accuracy:
In exams, time management is a prime factor. Solving mathematical questions with short cut methods save time and is the necessity of today. Practicing questions, again and again, makes you perfect and confident of solving questions.
JEE Main Mock Test:
JEE Main is a computer-based exam. Practice on JEE Main mock test gives you the same feeling as you are appearing in the final exam. This will eliminate your all types of hesitation during real exam. All the toppers prefer and advise to practice on mock test for best results. On line mock test are easily available on the net with free and paid options. Mock tests provide complete statistics of your performance like time taken, a number of correct answers, wrong answers, score, etc. You can study the solutions of each question attempted and prepare yourself for the next test. Systematically you can improve upon your performance. Initially, you can do mock papers on selective chapters and later on complete subject.
The above tips of JEE Main mathematics will be of great importance. All the best for all the candidates appearing in JEE Main April 2020 exam.
