NEET UG 2020 exam is scheduled on 3 May, 2020. Over 15 lakh candidates appeared in the 2019 NEET exam for nearly 90,000 seats. No dough, it is difficult to crack the exam, especially in the first attempt.  Previous years trend shows that toppers are from first-timers. There is an advantage with first timers that at the same time they prepare for Class 11 and Class 12 exams and the syllabus is the same. But only hardworking is not sufficient to crack NEET, a strategic planned study is required. We are giving here important tips to clear the NEET-UG 2020 Exam at First Attempt.

NEET UG 2020 Exam:

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted for admission to undergraduate medical programs such as MBBS, BDS and Ayush courses offered by Indian Medical Colleges. This year, National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct NEET-UG 2020 exam. The exam will be pen and paper-based with questions of MCQ type.

Decide the study option:

Many students go for coaching classes for exam preparation. However, some students go for self-studies with their own justifications which may be financial, time schedule or other.  In case you are going for a coaching institute option, you will already be fully occupied with their pre-defined schedule.

If you are doing self-studies, you have more responsibility for complete preparation. You should be more serious and dedicated to your study by giving top priority over other day to day activities.

Make a complete and detailed study schedule:

Considering the competitiveness and importance of the NEET exam, you should utilize your remaining few months with complete dedication. For this, a complete detailed schedule must be prepared on date wise. The schedule should be such that all topics of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (botany and Zoology) are covered. Ensure that important topics are covered and given sufficient time in your schedule. You should strictly follow this schedule. There should also be a weekly and monthly schedule of revision of topics covered during previous days.

Take a break:

Time and method study shows that efficiency is effected for the same activity for a longer period if it is performed without a break. At times, one may feel boring and tired by monotonous studying. A break in between will refresh you.

Best Books For NEET-UG 2020 Exam:

There is an ocean of books and materials available in the market. Do not purchase or collect many books unnecessarily. Books are considered as best friends for knowledge. NCERT books are supposed to be the best for class 11 and class 12 syllabus and for the NEET exam. You can also purchase some reference books considering it as an investment.

NEET 2020 Exam Pattern:

There will be total of 180 questions (45 in Physics, 45 in Chemistry and 90 in Biology (Botany and Zoology)) of MCQ type. Four options will be provided to choose from for most appropriate answer. The maximum marks for each correct answer attempted will be 4. There is a negative marking of one mark (-1) for wrongly answered questions. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.

Self-Prepared Study Notes:

Prepare your notes for each subject and important topics. These notes will be most useful while revising before the examination. Self-made notes contain specific information in short form including formulas, which you easily understand during your revision phase.


In your weekly and monthly revision schedule, revise your topics already studied. During the study, note down your doubts and clear these doubts during the revision phase.

Importance of NEET Mock Test Papers:

Mock test, specially e-mock tests (or online mock test) are the need of the time. Practice on e-mock tests is a must for many reasons. Mock test not only provides you feel of real exam but also provide complete statistic of your performance. It provides you statistics of the total time taken, number of correct answers, number of wrong answers and solutions of all attempted questions. You can analyze your performance and improve upon your weak areas before attempting next mock paper. Initially, you can practice on the NEET test series online free available on the net. It is advisable to attempt Mock Tests on individual subjects first and later on, go for the complete exam with all subjects. In a later stage, you can go for paid sets to practice and make you confident.
