NEET exam will conduct on 20 May for Karnataka Students

This year National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) held in 5th May. But due to delayed train 365 students from Karnataka couldn’t reach on time to appear in NEET test. According to a report published in NDTV “Chief Minister of Karnataka Mr. H.D. Kumaraswamy urged to HRD Minister Mr.  Prakash Javadekar to hold the test for the students who missed it for no fault of theirs”.

The students, who travelled in Hampi Express from Hubli to Mysuru via Koppal, Hospet and Bellary, reached Bengaluru over 7 hours late at 2.36 p.m. instead of 7.00 a.m., while the test began at 2.00 p.m.

 

HRD Minister Mr. Javaddekar tweeted “Happy to announce that #Karnataka students who missed #NEET exam due to railway delay will get another chance”.

 

Chief Minister re-tweeted to HRD Minister and thanks for considering the request and helping the students.

 

Mr. Kumaraswamy requested to the ministry to allow another 150 students who missed the NEET test as their as exam center was shifted to Bengaluru from Chikkaballapur at the last minute without prior intimation or information to them.

 

According to NDTV report “an official said that student already reached on time at the center Chikkaballapur on time couldn’t travel to Bengaluru center which is 40km away from the Chikkaballapur and missed if for no fault of them.”

 

“The ministry has assured the state that a decision would be taken soon”, tweeted the Chief Minister’s Office.

 

The Hindu reported the NEET exam was also postpone in Odisha in view of the cyclone Fani. It will also be held on 20 May.

 

“On the request of the state government of Odisha, in the wake of cyclone Fani, the exam for candidates whose center was in the state was postponed till further notice. It will now conduct on 20 May,” an NTA official said.

 

The centers for the NEET exam will remain same as announced earlier.
