Common Admission Test (CLAT) is a National Level exam conducted for admission to 22 National Law Universities for Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses. Nearly 50,000 candidates are expected to appear in CLAT 2020 for approximately 2500 seats. The competition is very tough.
CLAT 2020 Exam:
CLAT 2020 exam dates are announced by the official notification released in December 2019. CLAT exam is scheduled on 10 May 2020. The number of Law aspirants for study from reputed and National Level Universities is increasing day by day. Decide the study option:
Many students go for coaching classes for exam preparation. However, some students go for self-studies with their own justifications which may be financial, time schedule or other. In case you are going for a coaching institutes option, you will already be fully occupied with their pre-defined schedule.
If you are doing self-studies, you have more responsibility for complete preparation. You should be more serious and dedicated to your study by giving top priority over other day to day activities.
Make Complete study schedule:
Nearly four months are left in the final CLAT 2020 exam. A systematically planned schedule on daily/ weekly and monthly basis will have to be chalked out before starting your study and you should strictly follow it.
First, study the syllabus for each subject in detail and then arrange the best books either by purchasing or take from your senior or teachers. Books are considered as best friends for knowledge. If it is necessary to purchase, spend money as an investment.
New CLAT Exam Pattern:
The exam pattern for CLAT 2020 Exam has changed. Now there will be a total of 150 MCQ questions. The distribution of questions will be as follows:-

There will be a total of 150 questions of maximum marks of 150, one for each correct answer. However, there will be 0.25 negative marks for wrong answers attempted.
There may be questions based on given passages in English, GK and Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning and Logical Reasoning. Passages of approximately 450 words in English, GK & CA and Legal Reasoning may come.
In Logical reasoning, the short passage may be of 300 words and based questions may require you to –
- Identify and infer the rules and principles set out in the passage;
- Apply such rules and principles to various fact situations; and
- Understand how changes to the rules or principles may alter their application to various fact situations.
Self-Prepared Study Notes:
Prepare your notes for each subject. These notes will be most useful while revising before the examination. Self-made notes contain specific information in short form including formulas that you easily understand.
Current Affairs and General Knowledge:
Current Affairs cannot be prepared by books alone. In the section of Current Affairs and General Knowledge, passages of up to 450 words will be provided in the exam. These passages will be derived from news, journals and other non-fiction writing. Questions following the passages will not need any information out of the passage. Solving questions based on the passage will require your awareness of various aspects of General Knowledge and current affairs including:-
- Art & Culture
- International Affairs
- Contemporary events from Indian and the world.
- Historical Events of continuing significance.
Importance of Mock Test:
Mock test, specially e-mock test (or on line mock test) is the need of the time. Practice on e-mock tests is a must for many reasons. Mock test not only provides you feel of real exam but also provide complete statistic of your performance. It gives you total time taken, number of correct answers, number of wrong answers and solutions of all attempted questions. You can analyze your performance and improve upon your weak areas before attempting next mock paper. Initially, you can practice on Free Mock Test for CLAT available on line.
